I still play active tennis and can never fault Wimbledon's grass and I firmly believe that in time, like hockey, all major international sport will be played on Wimbledon's synthetic grass. It feels great underfoot and provides a perfect bounce, which makes sport even more enjoyable for the professional, but importantly this gives encouragement and confidence to the beginner.

As a long time promoter of the benefits of sport in schools and the community it was wonderful for me to visit one of Wimbledon's multi purpose schools projects in Beijing. The field that is used by 2,000 children daily was previously a mud heap in the winter and because of constant use never recovered and became a dust bowl in the summer.

Today the field thanks to Wimbledon's grass looks fabulous. It has a synthetic grass red running track around the perimeter of a beautiful green football field with additional different colored lines for volleyball and other sports. But not only does it look great it is being used by 2000 happy children 365 days a year and requires very little maintenance.
